We would like to invite you and your team to the 5th  Annual Thunder Road Classic in Auburn, Alabama on August 22 and 23. The Thunder Road Classic is hosted by the Auburn Soccer Association and directed by Jay Wingo of Near Post Soccer. We are very proud of our outstanding facilities and hospitality and want to share both with you.

 

Last year’s event attracted 105 teams from 6 states. Teams from such top clubs as Birmingham United, Huntsville Soccer Club, Hoover, PTC Lazers, and CFC Redstar  helped to create great competition. The feedback from these teams on last year’s tournament was tremendously positive. This year we will only be accepting approximately 100 teams. This will allow us to keep all matches at either the Auburn Wire Road complex, Shug Jordan complex or Piper field. 

 

 The Auburn Wire Road complex features 7 fields with some of the finest playing surfaces in the southeast as well as a state of the art concession stand, restrooms, offices and meeting rooms. The Shug Jordan complex has gone through a complete make-over which will bring these 3 fields up to the same high standards as the Wire Road complex.  These outstanding complexes as well as our central location to Birmingham, Atlanta, Tallahassee, Montgomery and the Gulf Coast will allow us to attract teams from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee and the Carolina’s.

 

In addition to our outstanding facilities, we have a large group of friendly volunteers expertly led and trained by Near Post Soccer who are excited at the opportunity to show you some good old-fashioned hospitality. Plan to join us to learn firsthand why Auburn is called "the loveliest village on the plains".
