22nd Annual Generals Invitational
May 23-24 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Dear Coach/Youth Soccer Enthusiast:

We are very excited and proud to invite you and your team to the 22nd Annual Redoubt Generals Invitational, hosted by the Redoubt Soccer Association and directed by Jay Wingo of Near Post Soccer. In addition to the 19 past years of top notch soccer tradition, the Generals Invitational is played in one of the top cities to visit with your family.  Chattanooga was chosen the third best city in the US to "visit as a family" in the April 2005 issue of Southern Living magazine, trailing only Walt Disney World and the Orlando area as favorite family destinations. Many of the area attractions have already supplied us with discount coupons for tournament participants. We will not be playing matches on Memorial Day so families, who wish, can visit these attractions on Sunday afternoon or Monday before they head back home.

We are planning for 150 to 200 teams in age groups of U-9 through U-19 for both boys and girls.  Our great central location will allow us to attract teams from both the southeast and midwest states. Teams from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, the Carolina’s, Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois and Indiana have competed in past Generals Invitationals.   Our number and variety of teams will allow  teams to play competitive matches against teams at their same level from other areas/states that they do not regularly play.

As an added bonus for U-16, U-17 and U-19 boys and girls age groups, we will be having a College Showcase.  Over 200 men’s and women’s college coaches from across the southeast will be invited to evaluate players at this year’s Redoubt Generals Invitational. The attendance of these college coaches, coupled with the ideal timing for top teams to prepare for state or regional cup play, will help insure a tremendous field of older age group teams.

Outstanding facilities (Redoubt, RYSA-East Ridge, North River complexes), great central location for teams from across the and southeast and midwest, and an outstanding staff of professionals and volunteers will help guarantee an outstanding tournament experience for you and your team.  Please plan to join us for what promises to be a great weekend of soccer.
