The Greenville 3v3 and Keeper Wars Challenge will be played Saturday,May 25th in Greenville, S.C.. Although it is our plan to complete the event on Saturday, the 25th, Sunday the 26th has been set aside as a make-up or overflow day for weather or too many teams for one day. In the event of too many teams for one day, we will finish the event Sunday afternoon. This event is directed by Jay Wingo of Near Post Soccer.
The 3v3 tournament is open to boys and girls players and teams in the U-8 through U-19 age groups. Players do not have to previously registered with a club or team to participate. The tournament is providing a secondary medical insurance coverage to all participants as part of their registration fee. This allows middle school and high school players or any other players who have not played club soccer to participate with us. Obviously, all club teams and players are invited. We are offering 3 levels in each age group so we will have a spot that fits all teams that apply. All teams will be guaranteed 3 matches and possibly a 4th if they advance. Team entry fee is $150 and online application is highly recommended.
The Greenville 3v3 Challenge is an official Challenge Sports 3v3 National Qualifying event for the National Championships at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex August 1st through August 4th, 2013. Division champions and finalists at the Greenville 3v3 earn a berth in the National Championships.
As an added feature, we are offering a clinic and "Keeper Wars" competition for U-10 through U-19 goalkeepers. The hour long clinic,(10:30 - 11:30) will precede the GK competition. After a brief rest, keepers will be placed in appropriate competitive groups to compete against each other in "Keeper Wars". Goalkeepers will try to score on
each other by kicking, punting and/or throwing the ball while the other keeper attempts to stop the shots. We are very excited and proud to be the first 3v3 to include this tremendously beneficial activity for GK’s. Cost for the clinic and "Keeper Wars" is $35 per keeper.
Goalkeepers will be allowed to participate in both the 3v3 and "Keeper Wars". Every effort will be made to schedule around both events but teams with GK’s will need to plan that their GK may miss their middle match due to conflict.
Both Near Post and Greenville United hope you will decide to join us for a great day of soccer. We are both committed to providing you, your team and families a very enjoyable experience.
